In: Home

There has been considerable development with regards to the 55 retirement communities real estate market. A main reason is due to the baby boomer generation who are looking to live in a community with others their age, being able to own their home, security, services that cannot be found in other areas, and maintenance-free way of life. Friendships can be easily established with people the same age and there are less problems with neighbors without children. Almost all of these 55 communities offer stability through home ownership. There is added security of living in a community where a guard is posted at the entrances. In addition, most over 55 communities offer things that cannot be found in a normal neighborhood such as a golf course, community center, parades and community celebrations.

Some of these communities also offer assisted living for the elderly. There may be one or more buildings. Or you may be able to receive help in your own home. The type of care available will vary with each community. It is very important to review the type, amount and quality of care provided before selecting a community. 55 communities are growing and thriving as the baby boomers continue to age and demand more from their neighborhood.
